All vehicle rentals are governed by a comprehensive Rental Agreement, which you will receive upon booking confirmation or when you collect your vehicle. This document outlines specific terms, conditions, insurance coverage, fees, and your obligations related to the rental. In case of any discrepancies between these Terms and the Rental Agreement, the Rental Agreement will prevail.
Eligibility Criteria
Renting a vehicle in Cumbria requires:
- To hire a vehicle in Cumbria, you must be a minimum of 21 years old, though age restrictions may differ based on the vehicle type. Drivers under 25 may incur additional fees. A valid full driving license, appropriate for the vehicle category, is required, along with identification and proof of your current address. Valid payment information and a security deposit are also necessary, along with any other requirements outlined in the Rental Agreement.
Booking and Payment Options
- Reservations can be made via our website, by telephone, or directly at our Cumbria location. A deposit may be necessary to confirm your booking. The total payment and security deposit are generally payable at the time of vehicle pickup. All prices are listed in British Pounds (£) and include VAT as applicable. We accept major credit and debit cards, processed securely by trusted payment providers.
Vehicle Pickup and Drop-off
- At the time of vehicle collection in Cumbria, please conduct a thorough inspection and report any pre-existing damage without delay. A vehicle condition report will be created and must be signed to document the state of the vehicle. It is your responsibility to return the vehicle in the same condition as it was collected, accounting for normal wear and tear. Any new damage will be evaluated and charged appropriately. Ensure the vehicle is returned with the same fuel level as when collected; refueling charges will apply if it is returned with less fuel. You remain liable for damages or losses up to the excess amount unless covered by extra insurance. Negligence or misuse will leave you responsible for damages, irrespective of insurance coverage.
Cancellation and Modifications
Cancellation and amendment policies differ depending on your booking type and the notice period provided. For precise details, consult your booking confirmation or Rental Agreement. Be aware that late cancellations or failure to show may incur additional charges.
7. Restricted Activities
Prohibited Uses of Vehicle
- The vehicle must not be used for any unlawful activities. Engaging in racing, off-roading, or other dangerous behaviors is prohibited. Transporting hazardous materials and sub-letting the vehicle to others is not allowed. Driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs, using the vehicle for inappropriate purposes, exceeding weight or passenger limits, or driving outside designated areas without consent is strictly forbidden.
Breach of these terms may lead to rental termination and extra fees.
8. Liability Restrictions
To the fullest extent allowed by law in England and Wales, Car Hire in Cumbria is not responsible for any indirect, incidental, special, or consequential damages, including loss of profits, data, or business, resulting from your use of our services. Our maximum liability for any claims is limited to the amount paid for the rental in the past 12 months. This limitation does not apply to liability for death or personal injury due to negligence, or for fraudulent actions.
9. Applicable Law
These Terms are regulated by the laws of England and Wales. Disputes will fall under the exclusive jurisdiction of local courts.
10. Updates to Terms
We reserve the right to update these Terms at any time. Changes take effect immediately upon posting on our website. Continued use of our services indicates acceptance of the revised Terms.
